Peace in the midst of chaos…

One day when I am old (I mean older), I will tell my grandkids -hopefully!- about that year 2020 when I turned half a century old and the planet was hit with a pandemic, thanks to a virus with the name of a Mexican beer. I will tell them about how the world suddenly panicked, and life as we knew it started to unravel…

So here we are, in those “difficult times” as the media put it, and my overthinking brain has been pondering it all… I tend to be anxious, so it came as a surprise when I realized that the main emotion I was experiencing was actually peacefulness.
P e a c e f u l n e s s… How on earth did that happen!?… Now, don’t get me wrong, I have my moments of panic just like anybody else, when I wonder how this will affect us all, how many people will die, how will the economy recover, how do I reassure my kids, etc… But somehow, I always manage to go back to peace and a relative sense of calm (not something I’m really used to!…).

I think a lot of it has to do maybe with how much more in touch with my intuition I have become over the recent years, and how more connected to my surroundings I have become, in a way, how more “spiritual” I have gotten -without even realizing it. I truly believe we are all interconnected and a part of this big “collective consciousness” -whether we see it or not- and I think that what’s happening is a wake-up call. We have been selfish, mistreating others, abusing and destroying our beautiful host of a planet. We’ve been greedy, focusing on growth (the economic kind, not the personal one) and profit, creating a society that revolves around work, where people struggle with stress and are called lazy when they try to slow down and smell the roses. There has been warnings and we have ignored them, now the Universe is saying S t o p!
Everything is coming to a halt. People are forced to stop in their tracks, pause, rethink, adapt to a new -temporary- normal, and re-examine their priorities. It is a good thing, and it was necessary. Yes, it comes at a heavy cost, but it seems most of us don’t listen until we are hit hard or affected personally. I truly believe some good will come out of this, which is why I am feeling mainly at peace…

I know that some people are really worried, and with good reason, because of the “at-risk” population, and because our health system is not ready for something like this. I know my words are unlikely to quiet their fears and make them feel better, but still let me say this: There are others like me, who think that what’s happening is somehow “a good thing” in the great scheme of things. We are praying, and meditating, and putting out Love and Light vibes, and trying to share this sense of hope and peace with the Universe, and I can only hope that this somehow counteracts some of the fear and panic that many are experiencing right now.

Keep breathing in the middle of the storm, the sun will come back eventually. ❤
